16 – PEACE, JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS
  • Make your voice heard and vote in elections (for example when voting for the mayor of your city, for the governor of your region or in national political elections).
  • Try to stay informed: read the newspaper, follow the news, discuss with your family or friends the most important news concerning the country you live in.
  • Fight violence against women. Do not accept any kind of verbal or physical violence. If you see such incidents, talk to someone you trust.
  • Try to know people who have thoughts, culture, religion, different from yours. So you can contribute to building a more inclusive society (where no one feels excluded and every person is valued).
  • Even at home, try to live in a peaceful environment (you can learn to conflict; instead of seeking confrontation try to dialogue: express what you think and listen to what other people think).
  • Show interest in your country’s decisions, but be peaceful when standing up for what you believe.
  • Read, write or make a video to show your support for peace.
  • Spend some time each week silently reflecting on how you would like to relate to others.
  • Volunteer with local anti-violence organizations and programs that promote peace.
  • Organize or attend local community events to know other people in a safe environment. For example sporting events, neighborhood parties, festivals etc.
