Through this goal, the 2030 Agenda aims to protect life on earth, protect biodiversity (i.e. the great variety of animals, plants, fungi and microorganisms that exist on the planet) and combat deforestation and soil pollution. 

This means that countries undertake to protect endangered species (both animals and plants), to promote organic farming (without chemicals), to take care of rivers, lakes and forests, to avoid turning forests into deserts and to restore land that has not been taken care of.
